FULL BIO
Claire’s anticipated debut solo album traces the fabric of her family history, sifting through inherited stories, personal memories, and archival material to navigate the past and chart a path forward. The Sun and Fun Capital of the Midwest draws on interviews with her grandmothers and extended family to tell a quintessentially American story of the women who came before her. The Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter and violinist grew up in Bismarck, North Dakota, surrounded by musicians at home and across generations of her family. These roots echo throughout the record, weaving together studio recordings, demos, and cassettes to explore life, death, and the lessons that emerge in its wake.
The album was made with the support of a grant from the New York State Council on the Arts and was co-produced with Allen Tate. It will be released on Better Company Records on June 26.
Claire is the lead singer and violinist of the indie rock powerhouse San Fermin and a proud member of Folk Alliance, the Recording Academy, SAG-AFTRA, and SURJ NYC. She also volunteers with the Arts & Culture team of the Poor People’s Campaign and Songs in the Key of Resistance with the Kairos Center. Listeners can also explore her previous work as Youth in a Roman Field.
She has performed on Broadway, toured extensively as a singer and violinist, and has worked as an arranger, writer, and performer on over forty records in the past decade. She wrote and performed the score for the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway play Accidentally Brave, and composes for dance, film, and visual art projects.
