| claire is a songwriter and has composed music and lyrics as a soloist and in conjunction with other artists, but most closely with musician eric mayson. the two began writing and playing together in 2008. they self-produced a demo that spring, along with friends paul davidson and adrian barnett, and have played in venues throughout minneapolis and mankato. the two are influenced mostly by jazz, blues, and folk music, and use various instruments to achieve their musical expression. they have also performed original music for dance performances including wicked sister dance company at the red eye theatre in minneapolis. claire has debuted her solo work at chicago's beast women cabaret series and currently plays in a duo called whiskey & the worry with ryan gaffney. in addition to playing the violin, she also takes guitar classes at the old town school of folk music in chicago's lincoln square. the school has provided her with an amazing community of musicians with which to collaborate and some fun performance opportunities as well, including the recent david bowie tribute concert in which she rocked some stellar fiddle runs. |
